Banana Radiation

…And like that, the sky went yellow.  The color of happiness, the color of gold and the color of the sun, of corn and wheat, the color of heat… and of your hair.  The color… the color of bananas!.  My God! The whole sky was covered with them.  Just like that!.  Hundreds of thousands, probably thousands of thousands of bananas, pealed to the half  and spinning softly like ballerinas dressed in yellow tutus, were floating and placidly coming down in that street full with trees and paved with red stones in the center of México City.

The moment? Those instants? Incredible, your oceanic blue eyes reflecting that giant mixture of color and movement, saturated with so many yellow, finally turned into emerald green, the purest, the shiniest.  Your white smile covered the scene, and waterfalls of light invaded the streets.  The police stopped and all their sirens woke up, and standing on the top began to watch the phenomena, while their celestial music began to raise and to get mixed with your light… and with those funny and suspended ballerinas.

A minute went by, 60 floating seconds.  The kids were jumping with their spring feet, old ladies were opening their hand bags with sharpie teeth, cars were in comma, and those looks that perform open mouths were all around, the windows from old buildings were showing up their old inmates with white morning-gowns and white hair. What a show! What and endless joy!

Beautiful, you fainted; your hand taking my hand fainted as well.  Your pink skin was receiving the shadows of some bananas floating all above our heads, like if they were pepping in order to see what had happened to you.  I raised you up, and carrying you on my arms I brought you to this hospital.  The doctors call it “hepatitis”, but they don’t know what happened, what you have my dear Adelle, is yellow frenesi… banana radiation.
